Igneous Rocks Notebooking Pages

by Jimmie Lanley on July 14, 2011

This post features the second set of notebooking pages for the three types of rocks. Sedimentary rocks are available, and metamorphic rocks will be featured next. Igneous rocks are formed by volcanic activity and molten rock that hardens either underground or above ground. So these printable pages include images of volcanoes and huge igneous boulders.

These two books are nice resources to have for a study of rocks and minerals. Hopefully the field guide will become an often used reference even after your study is over. I always like being able to identify a rock that I find.

  1. Geology Rocks!: 50 Hands-On Activities to Explore the Earth (Kaleidoscope Kids)
  2. Smithsonian Handbooks: Rocks & Minerals (Smithsonian Handbooks)

There are a total of five different layouts in three line styles, so that makes a grand total of fifteen free printable pages. I hope that at least a few work for your geology study.

As always, I love to know when you use the free printables from The Notebooking Fairy in your homeschool. If you send me photos of your rock pages, I would be glad to feature you in a Show Off post.

Jimmie,

I love these! I am currently planning my earth science for this fall. I’m taking a break from planning my rock unit and flipped over to your blog to see what you were doing. These will be perfect! Thanks.

These are great! Thanks so much. I did want to mention that there is a typeo on the one form, the n and the e are switched.
